S. Serengeti Under Canvas
The property
A mobile camp that follows the migration to the Ndutu plains for the January-to-March calving, high-society luxury on the short-grass.
From January to March the camp pitches in the southern Serengeti and Ndutu to coincide with the calving, half a million wildebeest born on the short-grass plains and the predators that gather for it. Same idea as its northern sibling: strip away the buildings, keep the elegance, and put you in the middle of one of nature’s great events with nothing between you and the plains but canvas.

Where it sits
A mobile camp, so its coordinates shift with the herds; from December to March it stands on the southern Serengeti’s short-grass plains around Ndutu. Ndutu sits on the Serengeti–Ngorongoro boundary, wide-open calving country where newborn wildebeest and the predators trailing them share a single flat horizon.

The rooms
Just nine luxury tents, one a family suite, dressed in golden-age style with custom rugs, brass samovars and chandeliers over king or twin beds, plus the ritual of a heated his-and-her bucket shower under the sky.
The country around it
