Migration Tented Lodge
The property
Twenty suites strung along the Grumeti in the Lobo Valley, granite kopjes behind, hippos below, the migration on the horizon.
The suites sit along the Grumeti riverbank; the main lodge stands on a hilltop above them. It reads as two things at once, the rough romance of a bush camp and the permanence of a hilltop estate. At 5,410 feet, roughly halfway between Seronera and the Kenyan border, it makes a natural base for a multi-stage safari, and the resident hippos supply the night music.

Where it sits
A strategic waypoint in the Lobo Valley at 5,410 feet, roughly 30 miles north of Seronera and 25 south of the Kenyan border. It works best as a high-end stopover that breaks the drive between the central big-cat country and the northern river crossings, with the raw, near-empty Lobo wilderness right on the doorstep.

II
The rooms
Twenty elevated riverbank tents of 475 sq ft, with hardwood floors, leather love seats, writing desks and 24-hour power. En-suites have dual basins and solar-heated showers. A short 45-step climb links the tents to the hilltop lodge, and a Maasai escort walks guests to dinner past grazing buffalo and hippo. The honeymoon suite adds a private deck and a rock-set Jacuzzi.
