The fine print, plainly

Booking terms.

The same words we’d say to you on the phone, written down once so we never have to argue about them later.

Deposits, payment schedule, refund tiers, change fees, force majeure — everything that matters between the day you book and the day you arrive. Read once and forget. We’ll keep our end.

01 Deposit & payment schedule.

A 40% deposit confirms your booking and secures all lodge and bush-plane reservations. The remaining 60% is due 60 days before arrival.

We accept bank wire (SWIFT) as the primary payment method. Card payments (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) are available on request through a secure portal, with a small processing fee passed through at cost.

02 Cancellation policy.

Honest math, no hidden gotchas:

90+ days before arrival: deposit refunded minus a $250 per person admin fee.
60 to 89 days: deposit forfeited; balance refundable.
30 to 59 days: 50% of total trip cost forfeited.
Under 30 days: 100% forfeited.

For bookings during the festive peak (15 December to 5 January) and the migration crossing window (1 July to 15 September), the schedule shifts earlier by 30 days because lodges hold their inventory tighter.

03 What’s included.

  • Lodge, camp, and hotel accommodation throughout the safari.
  • Three meals a day in the bush, plus beverages.
  • Hotel and airport transfers.
  • A 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser specialised for game drives.
  • All required park fees and permits.
  • Your private, professional, knowledgeable wildlife guide.
  • 1.5 L of still water per person on every game drive, plus a tin of cookies per group per safari.
  • Internal and local flights between parks where included in your itinerary.

04 What’s not included.

  • Visa entry fees.
  • Any gratuities (staff, guide, porters, camps) — we provide guidelines in our Travel Guide.
  • International flights to and from Tanzania.
  • Travel insurance.

05 Travel insurance — required.

Comprehensive travel insurance is a requirement, not a suggestion. It must include trip cancellation, medical evacuation (a real risk in remote bush locations), and personal liability.

We recommend World Nomads or Allianz Global Assistance for US travellers. We’re happy to share what our other guests have used, but we don’t sell insurance ourselves.

06 Visa & entry requirements.

Most travellers need a Tanzania entry visa ($100 single-entry, $50 transit). Apply online at eservices.immigration.go.tz (or directly at visa.immigration.go.tz), or get it on arrival at JRO (slower).

Your passport must have at least 6 months validity beyond your return date and at least 2 blank facing pages. Yellow fever certificate required if arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission (not typically required for travellers from US, EU, or UK).

07 Our commitments.

If something goes wrong with a lodge, plane, vehicle, or route on our side, we make it right — on our dollar, not yours. Lodge swap fees, transport changes, and re-routing are our responsibility once your itinerary is locked.

If weather or other force majeure (flooding, political events, airline grounding) disrupts your itinerary, we re-route at no additional charge wherever possible. Refunds for genuinely missed days are pro-rated.

08 Liability & safari risks.

Safari involves inherent risks: wild animals, light aircraft, remote bush locations, unsealed roads, and weather. We carry full liability insurance and follow Tanzania Tourism Board licensing standards. All guests sign a standard liability waiver at the start of the safari.

Africa Wild By Nature Safaris Limited acts as a booking agent for lodges, airlines, and activity providers. We do not own or operate those properties; we curate, vet, and arrange. Our liability is governed by Tanzanian law and limited to the value of the booking.
